Expert Permanent Makeup and Microblading Correction Portfolio

Everyday, I see more and more customers searching for permanent makeup correction or removal services. Over the years, I have helped many botched permanent makeup victims from all over US, who came to see me because of the unique and extensive experience with permanent makeup correction. Not many permanent makeup technicians are willing to take their time or have enough experience and creativity to correct permanent makeup.
Correcting permanent makeup is like solving a complicated puzzle, requiring a unique solution for every individual case. When it comes to the permanent makeup correction, the solution is not always as obvious as just a laser tattoo removal, saline removal or tattoo cover-up, because, unlike regular body tattoo, permanent makeup is not done with ink. Permanent makeup is done with pigment and pigment's particles are larger and have different chemistry than ink particles, therefore, pigment often does not respond well to the traditional tattoo removal methods.
To make things more complicated, there are many pigment brands with unique chemistry and particle sizes for every color. Often, prior to seeings me, customers had tried multiple “ budget correction" methods by going from one inexperienced technician to another, which only made their situation worse when inexperienced technicians tried applying other pigment brands and colors, making eyebrows thicker, more uneven and further damaging the skin by using ineffective and skin damaging tattoo removal methods.
During your consultation we will design a unique and comprehensive action plan for your permanent makeup correction based on your individual case.
Our plan might include a combination of different methods, or, if the laser tattoo removal is not an option and non-laser tattoo removal did not work, the best and safest way to repair bad eyebrows, eyeliner or lips tattoo is by covering it with the lighter flesh skin tone pigment. Although, this method only works with light and medium skin tone, since dark skin is prone to hyperpigmentation, so any attempt to cover it up with light pigment might backfire by producing an even darker color and thicker shape than before.
Due to significant increase in number of clients with botched permanent makeup, I wanted to add some information which, hopefully, will answer some of your permanent makeup correction questions.
The #1 repair request is eyebrows. Unfortunately, many people today do not understand or realize that microblading is a tattoo and in most cases it will not fade or disappear. Not many people realize how disfiguring badly tattooed eyebrows can be, so instead of doing their homework and finding someone who can custom design eyebrows that would fit and enhance their face, they fall prey to deceiving images of unhealed microbladed eyebrow not understanding that what they are seeing immediately after the procedure is merely just a little paper cut scratches that do not look the same and sharp after healing in few weeks.
Most permanent makeup victims have one thing in common, they did not do their research nor tried to dig deeper and ask many questions... Instead, they looked for bargains, convenient locations and deceiving side views of mostly photoshopped photos on Facebook and Instagram.
All the new permanent makeup technicians are trained to use Photoshop and to mostly post side-view or tilted and up-side-down view photos of their client's faces to hide uneven eyebrows and eyebrows that do not make their clients look good. Apparently, there are many applications on Google play that can easily alter people's faces, makeup and even their eyebrows, There are also such thing as fake Yelp and Google reviews when your technician is telling you that she had been doing permanent makeup for 10 years and yet all of her Google and Yelp reviews are written within the last 1 to 2 years and if there are any older reviews, they are usually not written for the permanent makeup services.
Every time I see another client with botched permanent makeup, it simply blows my mind how incredibly irresponsible was whoever did their work. Clearly, most permanent makeup technicians do not have the talent, creativity, vision and knowledge of facial symmetry.
Of course, why would they have any talent when their trainers are telling them that they do not have to have any talent to draw symmetrical eyebrows free-hand. All they have to do is measure their clients faces and use the golden ratio formula. It reminds me of a get rich selling real estate scheme that was so popular many years ago, or learn to play piano in one week DVDs. Sorry, but to do that requires talent. Similarly, It takes a talent to take one look at someone's eyebrows and know right away how to re-design them. It also takes a special talent to know how to enhance and re-balance client's face, and how to correct their naturally uneven eyebrows by redesigning and redrawing them free-hand without any no tools or stencils.
The permanent eyebrows repair process can be complicated, time-consuming and expensive, costing more than a new eyebrow tattoo.
To do it right, I have to pay attention to every detail, mix multiple colors, and utilize multiple techniques. An average eyebrow tattoo correction can require three or more sessions and much more time and work than making new permanent eyebrows. Just like I said before, correcting an eyebrow tattoo is like putting together a puzzle.
Most permanent makeup corrections require client's patience and dedication.
Please consider the cost of the repair prior to scheduling a consultation appointment. If your permanent makeup correction budget is under $2000 it might not be enough to finish your work. Due to the amount of time and work needed to repair a bad permanent makeup tattoo, the cost of repair is not negotiable. The cost and number of sessions can not be predetermined, since it is pretty much pay as you go from session to session until it is done.

None of the photos in my portfolio had been edited or filtered.
Many pictures were taken immediately after the procedure and therefore look more solid (not 3D yet) and much darker than healed eyebrows. Immediately after the procedure what you see is an external skin layer that will peel within six days after the procedure revealing much lighter, softer and multidimensional eyebrows.
What you see immediately after the procedure is not an actual tattoo, it is just an external skin layer that absorbed some pigment while we were aiming to implant that pigment into the middle skin layer, which can only be seen after the outer skin layer is completely gone (done peeling). To see the 3D eyebrows, look for photos that said "healed eyebrows."

The existing eyebrows tattoo was positioned way too high and too close for me to be able to correct it by simply adjusting their shape. I first needed to fade/hide the existing eyebrows tattoo completely in order to create a much nicer new eyebrow shape which would complement customers facial features and make her look younger. It took 4 sessions to hide and fade old eyebrows completely after which I was able to create new eyebrows -2 more sessions to create new eyebrows. Total 6 sessions = 1 year.
Botched eyebrows tattoo removal and correction step by step
Correction of uneven and too closely placed microbladed eyebrows unedited and unfiltered photos taken as is.... New eyebrows create just enough definition to create a visual uplift, making client look younger. Previously microbladed eyebrows did not produce enough contrast to create an illusion of face lift. They were also positioned too close creating an illusion of client's eyes being set closer and her face look longer.

Sadly, a dog groomer has to have more training and better credentials than most of those self-appointed permanent makeup trainers who promise their students to make thousands of dollars a day by doing 3 to 4 procedures a day. A total get-rich-quick scam.

Unlike other permanency makeup technicians and businesses, I do not post side view, tilted view or upside down only views in attempt to conceal an asymmetrical work.
Correction of uneven and too closely placed microbladed eyebrows New eyebrows don't just make this client look younger, they also make her face look rounder and more symmetrical. I specifically designed them that way, to create an optical illusion of her face being more symmetrical. Unlike most before and after photos of other technicians on Instagram , who use many photo filters, photoshop and tilted side view only photos designed to hide their imperfect and uneven work, my work is never edited or adjusted by photoshop or side only view. I do not pretend to fix my customer's eyebrows only on paper. I actually do fix them...
I re-designed this client's eyebrows to hide her facial asymmetry, while her old microbladed eyebrows only made her facial asymmetry look worse. I added just enough definition to create a visual uplift, making client look younger. Previously microbladed eyebrows did not produce enough contrast to create an illusion of a face lift.

This is exactly why people should not select their permanent makeup technician based on one eyebrow or a side view pictures of eyebrows in their portfolio.
This (below) eyebrows might look ok when shown separately, however, if you could see the whole face of this client you would notice how the old eyebrows design made her already long face look even longer,
it also made her nose look bigger, eyes look closer and smaller and the whole face look rougher and more masculine.

The way this client's eyebrows were previously designed emphasized her facial asymmetry, close-set eyes and nasal deviation to the right. I redesigned her eyebrows by moving them further away from the nose and positioning them in the way that would make client's eyes appear wider set and hide her facial asymmetry and nasal deviation.
I also redesigned her eyeliner tattoo to eliminate the "raccoon" design where lower eyelid line goes all the way in , which makes eyes appear close-set and smaller.

This (photo below)is exactly why I do not like microblading technique, especially when it is done by everyone and anyone after a 3-day permanent makeup course that does not take into consideration whether the individual they are training has any talent and good taste).
By the way this client's eyebrows were designed, they made her face look very masculine. This is healed eyebrows after one session. I am in process of eliminating certain parts of her eyebrows by covering them with the flesh skin tone pigment (which is the best, fastest and safest way to repair botched permanent eyebrows as of today since laser, salt and other non laser removal methods might not completely eliminate the pigment, cause allergies and scars. Flesh skin tone cover, if done correctly , is not visible.
Once I am completely finished with fixing this customer's eyebrows, she will have a beautiful, flattering feminine eyebrows that fit her face and make her look younger

Permanent eyebrows microbladed eyebrows shape correction for male client.
Another technician designed (microbladed) an extremely unflattering eyebrows shape for this male client by making his already round face and eyes appear even rounder .
I had corrected his eyebrows shape to make his face appear more masculine and sexy by creating straighter and shorter eyebrows to also create an illusion of his face being longer and eyes being longer and wider set.

There is nothing wrong with the eyebrows (below.) They were done by me 3 years ago and simply needed the color boost due to fading. Since it was my original design the shape was still perfect, they just got lighter and needed a simple color boost.
I am really happy this customer came to me for her color boost, since my work is very consistent and I would not change the shape of her eyebrows with each color boost.
However, if this client tried to save money by going somewhere else for her color boost , another technician would mess up my original eyebrows design beyond recognition into something less flattering because all it takes is less than one millimeter deviation from the original shape to alter the design. For example, if someone was to move this client's eyebrows only 1 milliliter closer, that small change would destroy my original design and make client's face look less attractive since it would make her eyes look closer and therefore make her nose and face look longer: One small change will alter the whole design!

Clients eyebrows were originally designed too high and uneven , making her face and her nose appear to be much longer than they needed to be, it also made her already round eyes look even rounder. What I did :
Part 1: eyebrows correction: I first covered her old eyebrows tattoo to make it look invisible, then I completely redesigned her eyebrows to make her nose look smaller, face look rounder, eyes look longer instead of rounder and to visually spread the eyes further apart. In addition, my newly created eyebrows design had also visually corrected client's nasal deviation to the left and it visually raised her left eye that naturally is much lower than her right eye. All that by only changing the shape and the location of client's eyebrows.
Part 2. Eyeliner correction: I first covered her top eyelids with the soft black color pigment starting on the lash line (like it is supposed to be). I then covered her old dark thick and migrated blue eyeliner tattoo with the very light warm brown pigment tattoo to de-emphasize the roundness and uneven shape of her eyes, to visually spread the eyes further away from the nose and to give eyes an appearance of being longer instead of rounder. Originally done somewhere else, clients brows were uneven, too dark , too high and faded purplish grey . While some people might think that client's original eyebrows shape was pretty good, I thought that their original shape did absolutely no justice to client's beautiful face. As soon as client walked into my office, I almost immediately had a vision of client's new and improved look . We still have few more appointments left left to fine tune everything.. ..

Eyebrows and Eyeliner Tattoo Removal/Cover up and Correction
This client went to a very well known and widely advertised permanent makeup place in Chicago ..... Well as you can see her brows and eyeliner were less than perfect to say the least. They were extremely uneven and VERY badly shaped and to make matters worse her brows were colored purple. The eyeliner was so uneven that we had to remove it in order to start fresh. We also had to completely remove client's eyebrows because the existing shape was completely off and cover up was not an option for either her brows or the eyeliner . It took almost 7 months to complete this eyebrow and eyeliner correction. Client's eyebrows and eyeliner turned out beautifully ! Look closer at the eyeliner , can you see a silver shadow above new "cat eyes" eyeliner. I used silver gray eye shadow to cover clients old uneven eyeliner. The end result-dual color eyeliner! Beautiful!

Client's eyebrows previously done somewhere else needed to be repaired due to original non flattering round and uneven shape, and color that turned orange. Most people don't look good with round eyebrows. Permanent makeup when its done right can look like an instant eye lift. It always makes me very upset to see how some permanent makeup tattoo technicians spend absolutely no time on designing and planning client's makeup. It takes me at least 2-3 hrs to shape clients eyebrows and find the right pigment mix long before I even to tattoo. Client's brows were reshaped to enhance her beauty , to open up her eyes, while orange color was corrected and turned into light auburn brown to perfectly match client's hair color.

Client was given 2 choices of brown color (very poor selection choices), just like many local beauty shop places that offer permanent makeup services. To make a long story short, 3 months later clients brows turned orange.
FYI -poor knowledge of color theory, poor color selection skills and low quality pigments can result in brows turning blue, purple or orange. It can also result in lips turning blue or purple. I see and repair it all the time.

Originally done 4 years ago at local nail shop for $100, had uneven shape and turned blue after 3 months ...Client had to live with blue eyebrows for 4 years, because she didn't know that it can be corrected... Well, we did it!!!! I still don't like their shape, but because of time and financial restrains client decided to only correct a color, and so I had to work with shape that was already there without being given the opportunity to change it. Now my client can enjoy life and stay active without being afraid that the cover will come off and everyone will see that she has blue eyebrows. Imagine living like that for 4 years!!!! Its probably not a good idea to have your permanent makeup done at the local hair or nail salons, house parties...etc.
